I call this piece A Traveling Lullaby or Baby's Continental Breakfast. It is my vision while listening to Beethoven's bagatelle opus 33, number 3 in F. This jaunty piano melody brought to mind a wet nurse feeding a baby in the back of a carriage on their way to a summer vacation in around 1800.
The abstracted nipple peeks out from a fringe of real lace, mirroring the sun in the sky that provides the same kind of warmth and nourishment. The carriage is a shrunken version of a puppet I made for a Beethoven puppet show.
The lace is more or less visible depending on the lighting and the angle from which the image is viewed. If you're in the Seattle area I highly recommend looking at this piece in person if you're interested in purchasing it.
Original collage with lace on canvas with the sides painted metallic gold. Measures 12x12 inches and .5 inches deep. Varnished to provide archival UV protection.
