Anointed original collage on canvas

Part of The Last Quartets art series, Anointed depicts my vision of the first movement of Schubert's last string quartet: D.887 in G major. A newborn seed finally sprouts up into a hostile world, nourished by the blood of sacrifice and compassion. While this sprout is the soul, the crow on top of the chalice is the physical self. Nourished by this blood of unconditional love, this crow sees another and begins to wonder what form this spiritual love might take here on earth.

My vision for the four collages that make up this Schubert quartet is a story about the pain of earthly incarnation and the ways we alchemize that pain to create a meaningful life for ourselves.

This canvas measures 20x20 inches with a 3/4 inch profile with sides painted in metallic gold acrylic. Most patterns used in this collage were designed by me along with marbled papers from 18th and 19th century books as well as flower petal infused mulberry papers. These are glued together with my original colored pencil drawings. Comes ready to hang.
