Though small I have a hawkish
eye,
and thirst for blood, I know
not why.
Were I an eagle I’d delight
in giving hopping rabbits
fright.
I see them in my very core,
a junco I remain no more.
Songbird life is not for me,
a deadly hawk I’m meant to
be.
Hawkish Junco is part of my series called BirdCore 2. Each piece in BirdCore has a little poem associated with it about the process of discovering who you really are at your core.
