Master the Breeze original collage

The wind has long been compared to human fate, tossing us hither and yon, usually against our will. In this collage the tree is the victim of the wind, pitifully losing all its leaves as two hummingbirds watch. In comparison these birds are remarkably still, hovering in mid air with wings un-blurred by motion. Hummingbirds learned to master the breeze. Though they have tiny hurricanes attached to their shoulders they act as if unaware of their supernatural powers. Are hummingbirds the only animals to have conquered fate by learning to control it the way their wings control wind itself?

This collage is a visualization of Beethoven's bagatelle opus 33, #1 in E flat, part of the Little Nothings series of all seven of these short piano pieces.

Original colored pencil bird drawings and collage on canvas with the sides painted metallic gold. Measures 12x12 inches and .5 inches deep. Varnished to provide archival UV protection.
